A very handsome indoor plant, or understorey plant for shady tropical garden beds. This Bolivian beauty has leaves that unfurl from cigarette scrolls into big broad circles, revealing subtle silvery-white stripes across each one. Give it some shade, regular misting, and a warm sheltered spot.

A large Calathea variety, the Orbifolia boast large, rounded leaves with a contrasting striped pattern.  The foliage grows out in a fanned shape from the center of the plant and each leaf grows to be substantially larger than your hand.

Description

Keep soil uniformly humid and don’t allow it to dry out. Be careful however not to over water.

Fertilize balanced fluid compost every two weeks.

Difficulty: Hard

Light: Bright indirect sunlight

Watering: Water twice a week
