Description

Fertilize it at regular intervals of 3 weeks in its growing month of summers with rich nitrogen content manure. In winters, nourish the compost less often. However, avoid overfertilization to prevent harm to the foliage.

Report Calathea yearly in rich well-draining soil in a one-size bigger pot when it grows out of its present pot.

Calatheas can be proliferated by division of the primary rhizome after the parent plant has matured enough in size and is adult. It can also be proliferated by stem cuttings.

Calatheas are known to be unstable. However, with the perfect amount of water and daylight they can be planted indoors without any problem. Keep it close to a window or in your shaded terrace where it gets enough indirect light.

Plants growing in containers need more manure than those in the ground. The more you water, the more rapidly you flush the nutrients out of the soil.

Some of the issues faced by these plants are:

• Under-watering and overuse of manure both can prompt browning of leaves. Water the plant less often and decrease the use of compost if this issue happens and continues.
• The twisting of Calathea’s leaves is caused because of the absence of moisture. Water the plant sufficiently to overcome this. Also, fog Calathea a few times in seven days.
• A yellowing leaf is an indication of over-watering. If there are yellow leaves, examine the soil and roots. If the roots are excessively soft, decrease the frequency of watering to prevent root decay.
