Vallisneria Gigantea, commonly known as eelgrass, tapegrass and vallis, is native to the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. This perennial plant grows well in wetlands such as ponds, lakes, and calm streams, as well as in slow-moving rivers and streams. They are ideal for large aquariums with large fish. It grows rapidly (about 1 cm a day), so pruning is highly recommended if used in aquariums.

Description

The leaves of Vallisneria gigantea grow in clusters from the roots and float above the water surface. The leaves can grow up to 48 inches long and 0.4 inches wide. The leaves are dark green with rounded tips and high veins.They are tough and not eaten by herbivorous fish. The white aquatic flowers have three petals, arranged in a tubular shape at the apex of the inflorescence.

Vallisneria gigantea is found in large spots on the surface of permanent water bodies. It reproduces by water pollination. The male flowers emerge under water and when they reach the water surface they are covered with female flowers and reproduce.

    The quality of plants were ok but communication was nil from time of purchase . After a week of multiple messages someone responded to confirm package has been shipped.

    The delivery partner ship rocket was even worse . Took literally 3&1/2 days to deliver the product from Malappuram to kannur which is neighbouring 2 districts in Kerala . So overall I would say it was below par experience !!
