Description

It is a fast-growing plant and should be pruned frequently. New shoots sprout forth from the stem and the plant appears as a shrub. The cuttings can be re-planted in the bottom of the aquarium where new roots form rapidly. It prefers well-lit conditions, nutrient-rich water and compost, and benefits from excess CO2. If allowed to grow out of the aquarium, it will carry purple-scented flowers, which often cause the lower leaves to fall off. The plant is adaptable to a variety of water conditions.
