Alternanthera sessilis is found in swamps, on roadsides, and in gardens. A dark red type of this species is generally spread as an ornamental plant, and it is also used as an aquarium plant. Not withstanding, It is unsuitable for submersed cultivation. Submerged it forms very long internodes with little leaves and a huge number of roots high on the plant.
Emerged cultivation of the Alternanthera Sessilis is simple. This strikingly dim red plant is suitable for paludarium or terrarium.
