Alpinia is a very gorgeous leafage plant with stunning yellow and green bicolor leaves with a striking tropical appearance. It is also known as the shell ginger plant because the flowers favor seashells. Variegated ginger is grown for its colorful leafage which will lighten up a partly shaded garden.

Description

This is an energetic growing plant. It grows in upright wads to 5′ – 6′ tall. The plant likes moisture. Keep in a watery area of the garden in moist soil. It requires high humidity. Keep the surface of soil moist, but not soggy. It does not have serious insect or disease issues. Nourish with an acid fertilizer after bloom.
